Psychodrama

Psychodrama is a form of group therapy which was developed in the early part of the twentieth century by J L Moreno by working with interpersonal relationships with drama.

JL Moreno was one of the major founders of what is now called Group Therapy.

By working with roll play the underlying issues can be bought to the surface. Within the group the therapist (director) will encourage the playing out of pre arranged rolls.

For example one member may feel difficult around accepting gifts which bring up feelings of anger. This group member may recall a past incident which some of the group will then "play out". Members of the group may pay out a members dream, part of a life story or past traumatic event.

By working with this within the group, other outcomes can be explored and the true root of the anger may be revealed.

Each member of the group will have the opportunity to work through "re-enacting" to explore emotional difficulty within a safe and controlled group environment with the object of providing insight and emotional relief.
