Brief Meditation - Pausing

In daily life, in the office or at home it can be really helpful to simply pause for a few seconds, to take a moment to stop dealing with the daily stresses of modern life for just a brief moment. In some ways it is a little like counting to ten before saying or doing something.

If you do not currently meditate, or even if you do it can be really beneficial to pause between daily tasks. So before picking up the phone, or whatever your next task is perhaps give it a try.

To pause, simply come to a stop, sit and take in your next few breaths, listen to all the sound around you without trying to name each one, simply hear everything both close by and in the distance. Hear the distant aircraft, car, train or bird singing and your breathing.

Come back to the present moment and then after only a few seconds move to your next task in daily life, it can take less than 20 seconds to simply pause and if you can manage to do it once or twice a day you will soon sense the benefit to your own peace of mind.

You can make this a daily practice without even noticing those few seconds go by, yet the benefit can last considerably longer.

More soon by way of explanation and helpful tips.
