  Spirituality in Thai Massage

nemir wrote on the 21 June 2010

Perhaps you have seen the beautiful postures and manipulations of Traditional Thai Massage, an elegant activity where it is not always clear who is the giver and who the reciever. You may have heard that it combines acupressure with stretching, that it frees up the body, delivering wellness. You may also have heard about energy meridians, acupressure points, and so on. However, deeper than all these there is an aspect of Traditional Thai Massage (TTM), which to me, contains its essence and its secret, its spirituality.

TTM may well be called Bhuddist massage, as it is closely linked to the arrival of Bhuddism in thailand, and is still practiced by Monks all over Thailand, however that is to give it a label, and spirituality transcends labels.

Spirituality, to me, is to go below the surface of the world, to arrive in a place and time where the differentiating mind is silent , to feel onself as natural and harmonious as the waves on the shore, or the wind in the trees.

In the depth of TTM one abandons ideas to be present in the moment, feeling with one's being for the subtle impulse, the gentle breeze which tells you where to go, we are like an animal on the scent of its prey, awake to the slightest clue, and our prey is the Heart.
this to me, is the Spirituality of Traditional Thai Massage,

with metta,

nemir

  Scientific proof of God

Yogi Nils wrote on the 10 June 2010

Best wishes to all. I am Yogi Nils. I am a hermit since 22 years in a wood in germany near Hamburg. I am 58 years old. I work as a teacher of yoga. My spiritual way is the unity of all religions.

My current question is whether God can be scientifically proven. 2009 I had a large internet debate with the atheists in Germany with more than 2000 postings. The essentials I wrote down in my free ebook The Science of Proving God´s Existenz. I think that a scientific evidence of God is possible. I want to discuss this with you.

I wish it to be very true to enjoy a promises good life, however all are crap.
Companies will do anythig to sell us a dreams we would like to believe it, one of them very successful.
Nikken is a company who make an impressive wash brain.
No argue some of their products very good qulity, (very expensive though)
I convinced to buy the magnetics matress well I'm sorry to say I feel nothing helped me or making me sleep better then before.
I found consistancy claim from professors and reserchers that are very criticism this uneducated field and all ARE sayig there is no any evidence or any prove for what companies proud for.
they are using a logical bolshit rather then real support reserch.
it become like a cult and it's very sad that even inteligent people can be mislead.
In the UK, Norway, and Holland Nikken got some trouble.
FDA with all your concern still a reliable body warren
all those companies who mfg. Magnet products not to mislead consumer.
Well if someone like to be fooled by comercial company
which their main goal is making money rather then really care about us, if they are really care about us why they sell us those wonderfull products at the very high cost?
think about it people awake up.

  Magnetic Therapy

Annie wrote on the 05 June 2010

I've tried a few natural therapies over the years & have to say the best treatments use several modalities to help relieve symptoms. Magnetic treatments do help to ease muscle stiffness & pain when worn under clothes. I've got a little vest which I've had for a few months & it has really improved the pain in my shoulders. I think sometimes the simplest things work the best.

  Holographic Breathing Free Seminar

martin jones wrote on the 22 May 2010

I My name is martin Jones I am the founder of the Holographic Breathing Self healing system. I am starting to make the different seminars in Holographic Breathing available on down loads. The first seminar that teaches the basics i am giving away Free Of Charge
In Holographic Breathing there is a small, gentle, movement of the mouth on the in-breath the jaw gently opens, and on the out-breath the jaw gently closes. This is held by the lips being closed and the tongue being on the roof of the mouth, the breath is through the nose. In this first seminar participants learn how to go about this in a relaxed and easy way. At a certain point there is a remembrance as if this movement is expanding from with-in us, and as this happens the movement and the breath integrate, the mouth and the whole body relax into a deep, moving breath. As this is happening we spend time to allow this new depth of breath to integrate through the whole body and also connect to the earth and higher energies. Enjoy also it would be nice to know how you got on with it as teach by down load is new for me.

torticollis - after effects of botox

Cary wrote on the 21 May 2010

I had botox injections a few days ago on my neck to address my torticollis. I am now having pain across my shoulders, in my neck and down my back and I have problems feeling like my head is heavy and noticing challenges with lifting it. Went for a bike ride two days after injection and it was difficult to hold my head up. I hope this goes away soon. Any thoughts on how to address the pain in neck, shoulders and back following the injections? Any over the counter pain relief meds?

Thanks for any input.

CINDYCYROX wrote on the 11 April 2010

Hello,

I am going to the Dhanwantari Ashram this June, please tell me whether you have visited in June before, because I have been warned that the weather will be unbearably HOT for a person used to English weather. Please tell me how you found it.

It would also be good to travel with someone who is going to the same Ashram at this time.

Namaste

  SEEKING INFO ON Dhanwantari Ashram

cindycyrox wrote on the 05 April 2010

Hello all,

I will be travelling to India, for a Yoga Retreat in the Dhanwantari Ashram in Kerala, this June. This will be my first time travelling to India and I honestly do not know what to expect. I have heard stories from people who have travelled there before, but that's about all I have. I am anxious, scared and excited!

Has anyone visited this particular Ashram for a Yoga vacation or TTC within the last year or two?
I am planning to get a taxi from Thiruvananthapuram airport straight to the Ashram, to avoid any disasters. I have seen that the price for this on the Sivananda website is less than ten pounds!

Is the general hygiene in this Ashram very good?
What are the locals like, do they speak much English?? Any beaches or really nice treats/retaurants/hotels close to the Ashram that I can spend time at after my retreat?

Please tell me anything that you think will be useful to me. A friend told me that there wouldn't be hot water in the Ahram and that it will be VERY HOT IN JUNE, like 40 degrees +!!!

I have been warned THAT I WILL GET SICK AND NOT to drink the tap water, I'm guessing that the bottled water is fine. I know that I will need to be vaccinated- price?.
Did you all experience illness when you were there.

Any pointers on doo's and don'ts, must sees and good things to take with me????

Namaste

  SEEKING INFO ON Dhanwantari Ashram

SueF responded on the 06 April 2010

I've not been to that ashram but have visited Kerala.

I was there for six weeks and did not get sick at all, but did when I got back, but only for about 24 hours.

I ate most things, avoided water not in bottles but tried most things without any problems. Avoid too much alcohol!

English is spoken in most tourist areas as usual!

GP will have prices or look on NHS direct for a guide (Do it soon!)

Enjoy, it's another world but is changing fast.
:(

Hi-I was diagnosed with ST about a month ago, after a progressively worse neck problem for the past year. I am talking to a neuro (whatsits) Dr. about getting Botox injections. I am dealing with the idea I may never get over this thing, and wondering what the heck has caused it. I really appreciate everyone's info. posted on here!!!

I am doing Qigong exercise, yoga, and EFT (body tapping on energy meridians). The EFT gives a little relaxation. I am just today learning that calcium magnesium supplements are not very effective--which I've been taking for some time so--starting tomorrow I'm stopping and going to start increasing my calcium and magnesium in my foods. I pray that as some have posted the magnesium will help me.

Such an odd, odd thing and really no one knows what it is that you see in public.

Take care all.

A Simple Path is based on talks by The Dalai Lama given in London during the mid 1990’s the Dalai Lama is widely respected as one of the world's great spiritual teachers of Tibetan Buddhism, most traditions find his work both acceptable and inspiring, because he tends to stress the universal features rather than narrow and restricted doctrine. The book covers the Four Noble Truths: the nature of suffering; the origin of suffering and the law of karma; cessation of suffering through liberation; and the path to achieving this. There are also many fantastic quality images of Tibet.

This book examines one of the most interesting and challenging aspects of psychotherapy, that of the therapist and client relationship. Kahn discusses theoretical information and explains it in such a way that it can be understood and utilised within daily practice with clients. Kahn shows how classical transference analysis can be combined with contemporary humanistic emphasis on warmth and empathy. With discussion of ethics and the minefield of transference and countertransference. It is appropriate as a supplement for courses on psychotherapy and counselling in both theory and practice.
