I hope I am wrong, but it seems the war declared against Iraq is only a precursor to a much bigger war against the oil states. My train of thought goes something like this;
Saudi Arabia was the west’s friend that governments worried about criticising, in the last 3-4 months government criticism has started to grow to the point of openly talking about regime change. Syria is being accused by the US of collusion, Turkey has refused access and US troops are on the border to stop Turkish troops entering/defending the north. Iran has had missiles arriving from US/Iraq forces hitting it's territory. Iraq is still firing missiles into Kuwait.
Unlike Gulf war I no Arab states support this war. The US has held back some of it’s forces in case other countries become troublesome to it’s aims. Iraq had destroyed it’s own oil wells, reducing US access to the oil. I hope I am paranoid but this is getting really serious….. |

I know they have a lot of oil, so why is the country in a 3rd world state? it's a rich country and should be prosporous.Instead Sadam the evil idiot is ruling the country and making his own people poor. He is greedy and evil and kills his own people and basically that is a good enough reason 2 get rid of his evil regime. He has tormented his own people for years and no decent country should sit back and watch such a dictator be so evil to his own people. |

I am sure the uk and us will also be thinking of oil contracts, but is that really so bad? It's not as if we're going to steal it from them, we will be able to rebuild their country without the hideous regime in exchange for the oil. Isn't that right? I just can't believe everyones anti war statements. I myself don't see how it is possible to take a back seat and let an insane evil man stay in power. He needs to be killed, he is evil. His regime is evil. They need democracy. If we don't do it for them who else will. U can read my lil' speech if you like I got quite carried away. lol |

Hmm, so killing is OK if someone is "bad". Iraq is not poor, take a look at some of the news feeds, flash buildings and monuments everywhere. Yes there is poverty, as there is in the UK, US and in every other country. Yes, Sadham is not a good leader, he is bad news, but the people of Iraq CAN choose to get rid of him, look at the demo's in the UK and US, they get a little out of hand and the police step in. BUT if we really want to get rid of our governments it would be easy - strikes, rebellion etc - yes people would die even in the west, and perhaps even more in a dictatorship - BUT the leadership would go - take a look at Iran when it changed and threw out the US backed "Royal dictator". It is for the people not foreign powers. |

ummmm, nah. Actually I do believe the Iraqis don't know who to trust so organising such a rebellion would be near enough impossible as the news would reach sadam and his leaders before any action could be taken. Yes I do believe evil people should be killed. |

It is my opinion, to me it they are no good and are dangerous so is there really any need to have them in the world? Nope. People who care so little for human life and who can torture their own people and act in such evil ways deserve no mercy. Just think, if nobody was evil then we could all have peace, but it's not that simple is it. There are some truly wicked people - the world is not perfect. |

Yes some areas of Iraq are wealthy but not the places that count - the country would be so much more wealthy for everyone, in a more balanced way like here in the uk if the country were managed in a more fair way. It would be easy for people in our country to get rid of our government but the iraqi government is not like a normal just one - they would simply kill all that stood in the way of their regime , as they have done and would continue doing so if we didnt step in. And anyway, killing is not okay if some is BAD but it is if they are plain EVIL which many people are -it's a fact and people should deal with it. Not everyone is LOVELY or even AWFUL. EVIL people will never be anything but EVIL. |

Not the places that count, oh I see so it's OK for the US/UK to control which parts of another country have wealth! Perhaps we should invade the US after all they execute people, imprison people without trail and have disproportionate extreme poverty and extreme wealth, they have weapons of mass destruction, they sell them to rouge states, they have used nuclear weapons and sold them to other countries. The US had invaded and bombed more countries than any other country and has killed more people in war than any other country in recent history. |

I never said the rest of the world was perfect. There are a few, hardly any, wrong trials where innocent people have been sentenced to death etc. But at least the laws give people rights, you are allowed to speak out against the government if you want, the Iraqis aren't. There will always be bad eggs in all countires including our own that are people who have power, ie police etc but that cant be helped. Some people are bad, some people are evil |

and by the way, dont take what I said about "the places that count" out of context, if you read it again you will see I said the normal Iraqi people aren't getting the money in the places that count and thus making them fairly poor. These are the ordinary civilians. In other words, the Iraqi government is over spending on weapons, and not enough on the people of Iraq |

So, now that over 100,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed, the countries infrastructure has all but collapsed and so called insurgents are running amok, and and and...
