In the winter months the Reception Centre in Kathmandu overflows with new arrivals from Tibet. Many of them are children, headed for India and schools run by the Tibetan government in exile. Although winter makes for an easing of border patrols, conditions on the Himalayan passes can be life-threatening and many arrive exhausted, hungry and frightened. Some are as young as ten years old, entrusted to a guardian to deliver them safely to school. Last year, over 1000 children passed through the centre.
Money raised by this concert will be used to cover Cat Malpas’ expenses while visiting the Art Refuge as a volunteer during April 2007. Cat is currently a Flute Student at the Royal Welsh Collage of Music and Drama and hopes her musical skill will be used to good effect. World As Lover, World As
Self
Joanna R Macy |

World As Lover, World As Self includes
an introduction by Thich Nhat Hanh. It is a book offering a world view,
the collective emotional, spiritual and physical "damage" we all carry
from past conditioning and a way forward. A holistic Buddhist view without
pushing a specific remedy but showing just how collectively damaged the
world has become.
