ButeyKo Breathing Method |

I would urge anyone who suffers from asthma, rhinitis or other respiratory problems to look into the Buteyko method. I have as good as overcome my problems by reading 'Asthma-free naturally' by Patrick McKeown three years ago. This book features the Buteyko method which is suitable for adults and children. There are also teachers/therapists out there. As this method is relatively little known and as it occasionally rather clashes with the type of yogic breathing taught in class, it can be a little awkward convincing yoga teachers to allow adapted practice but it is worth sticking to as it will increase ability, lung capacity, well-being, health and ultimately make you well and strong enough to do good yoga.
Obviously this method can be supported further by meditation and mindful and insightful contemplation of why you/your body is choosing to challenge you in the first place. |

This seemingly expensive workbook and CD's combination teaches the Buteyko breathing method. It has been tried and tested in Australia and Russia. The programme is one of the first of its kind that brings together Buteyko breathing techniques with all other factors that are known to affect breathing health, such as diet and nutrition, for example. This educational programme empowers people to overcome, rather than succumb, to asthma symptoms; allowing them to be less dependent on doctors and prescribed medication.
